Summary

Smart Auto Refresh handles a limited amount of information on your device to refresh the tab you choose. It does not send that information to the developer or any third party, and it does not use it for tracking, advertising, analytics, profiling, or sale.

Information handled locally

  • Current page address: The current URL and hostname are used to enforce the exact-page or whole-site scope and, if you choose, to save defaults for that hostname. The extension does not read or build your Chrome browsing-history list.
  • Website content: If you enable keyword detection, the extension examines either the page’s visible body text or its HTML in the current tab to find the keyword you entered. This content is processed in memory for that feature and is not retained as a copy.
  • Interaction and scroll state: If pause-on-interaction or scroll restoration is enabled, the extension observes recent interaction signals and can temporarily retain scroll coordinates. It does not record typed text.
  • Settings you provide: Global settings, refresh defaults, profiles, saved-site defaults, schedules, selectors, and other configuration are stored in Chrome’s extension storage on your device.
  • Optional custom sound: If you import a sound, its name and audio data are stored locally in Chrome’s extension storage.
  • Temporary tab run/status state: While a tab is running, Chrome’s extension-session storage can contain the active task configuration, counters, next-run and start timestamps, detection signatures, action cooldown timestamps, and scroll coordinates. When the run stops, the active task and timer checkpoints are removed; the last status and configuration may remain for that tab so the popup can explain the result and restore the last controls. This is not a browsing or refresh-history log.

Smart Auto Refresh stores extension data only in Chrome’s extension storage. It does not write its run state into a website’s localStorage or sessionStorage.

Retention and user control

  • Website text or HTML examined for detection is not saved by the extension.
  • Active task/runtime checkpoints are cleared on Stop, scope exit, or tab close. A tab’s last status/configuration is overwritten by later activity and is cleared when the tab closes or the browser session ends. No extension-session state survives the end of the browser session.
  • Settings, profiles, saved-site defaults, and an optional custom sound remain until you change or delete them, clear the extension’s data, or uninstall the extension.
  • An exported settings backup is a file you create and control.

Permissions

  • storage: Stores settings and temporary run state in Chrome’s extension storage.
  • activeTab + scripting: Runs the refresh engine in the current page after you interact with the extension.
  • Optional notifications: Shows a desktop notification only if you enable that keyword-detection action and grant permission.

Network, sharing, and human access

The extension has no developer-operated data server and does not transmit extension-handled user data off your device. Reloading the selected page causes the browser and that website to make their normal network requests; those requests are governed by the website’s own privacy practices.

Smart Auto Refresh does not sell or share user data, does not include analytics or ads, and does not allow the developer or other humans to read the locally handled data.

Limited Use

Smart Auto Refresh uses user data only to provide its disclosed auto-refresh and alert features. Its use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
